CULTIVATING HIS PRESENCE

For you will not leave my soul in Sheol. Nor will you allow your holy one to see corruption. You will show me the path of life. In your presence is fullness of joy. At your right hand are pleasures for evermore.” (Psalms 16:10-11)

God delights in fellowshipping and dwelling with you and in you, even though His essence is not limited to you. The Bible says your body is the temple or dwelling place of the Holy Spirit (God) or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.(I Cor.6:19-20)

God has always promised to be with His people from the on-set. Adam and Eve before the fall at the Garden of Eden enjoyed God’s divine presence, fellowship and communion.

Isaac in the land of Gerar was assured of God’s divine presence in the land of the philistines “Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and thy descendants I give all these lands and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father(Gen.26:3)

Joseph was a man that enjoyed God’s divine presence in every circumstance and situation: as a slave, in the prison and even as the Prime-Minister in Egypt. “The Lord was with Joseph and he was a successful man; and his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord made all he did to prosper in his hand.” (Gen.39:2-3)

One of the greatest promises our Lord Jesus gave to us at the end of His ministry here on earth, is that of His abiding presence. And I will pray the Father and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever- The Spirit Of Truth” whom the world cannot receive because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him for He dwells with you and will be in you; I will come to you.” (John 14:16-18)

In every dispensation God has always dwelled with and abided in His people as individuals and in groups.

HOW TO CULTIVATE HIS PRESENCE

There are habits you must cultivate in order to constantly enjoy his abiding presence.

1. Be totally separated from sin, the world system and its evil desires and pleasures and, absolutely devote, consecrate and dedicate the members of your body to the Lord. (I Corin.6:15-18; Gen.39:11-13)

2. A strong love and desire to keep God’s Word in your heart (Psalms119:9-11). The Word is the blessed Trinity dwelling in the inside of you.

3. Walking in absolute obedience to divine instruction. The disciples went every where preaching the good news and the Lord was with them, confirming their words with signs (Mark 16:20, Gen.26:1-6)

4. Spend quality time alone with God in prayers, praises, study and meditation in the Word (Exodus 33:11; Acts 4:31). When the disciples prayed they were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke God’s Word with boldness.

BENEFITS OF HIS PRESENCE

1. Divine protection, security, support and help are received from Him. (Psalms114:1-8)

2. Obstacles become stepping stones to breakthrough (Gen.26:19-22)

3. Deliverance and victory is guaranteed in battle. (Exo.14:13-14,25)

4. Good success and prosperity beyond human imaginations is a proof of God’s divine presence. (Gen.26:28-29)

5. Joy and stress free life, career and ministry are some of the benefits of God’s presence. (Psalms 16:11)

6. Eternal dwelling with God, here on earth and in the life to come. (Revelation 21:3).

Beloved, God is not afar off, seek the Lord while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near, He is the closest ally, closer to you than your heartbeat.

Therefore make room for Him in every domain of your life “Behold He stands at the door of your heart knocking. Open for Him now and let Him fill you with the fullness of His being and you shall be glad you did. I hope to see you bodily in His presence one day.

Shalom
